Nissan Motors Enters the Electric Car Market

Nissan Motors plans to put up Nissan electric cars for sale by the year 2010. They would have tough competition in the form of General Motors’ Chevrolet Volt which goes on sale the same year. Nissan Motors however, are confident of holding on their own. They are not interested in coming out with another hybrid car, like the other electric car companies that plan to have gasoline engines, which would take over once the battery is exhausted. The electric cars developed by Nissan Motors would run completely on battery and would ensure unconditional zero emissions.

According to the chief executive of Nissan Motors, they are planning to build electric cars that would fit with driving patterns of the country in which they are sold. For example, the electric cars for sale in the United States would have electric cars batteries that would run for at least 100 miles on each charge. While the cars meant for Europe, would do well with 50 miles on a single charge.

Nissan Motors would be building its electric cars in collaboration with the Tennessee Valley Authority, which is the largest electric utility in Tennessee. It has also made arrangements for the development of its electric cars in Denmark, Portugal and Israel.
