Electric Cars on the Road

Electric cars for sale’ would be the subject of many car advertisements in British Columbia and Quebec, where environment friendly vehicles that include electric cars have been allowed to be used on roads. Electric cars companies, that is Zenn based in Toronto and Nemo from Quebec have got approval for their cars for use in the roads of Quebec.

However Ontario is playing safe, with the government commissioning an independent study to examine electric cars’ safety features. According to Jim Bradley, the Transportation Minister of Ontario, they are concerned about the safety features of these vehicles. Transport Canada has about 40 safety standards for cars, and electric cars only meet a few of them. Moreover they would like to understand what kind of safety features would be required by these cars before releasing the electric cars for sale.

Catherine Scrimgeour from Zenn Cars questions this move. According to Scrimgeour it’s just not fair comparing the safety features of electric cars, with those of regular cars. It would be like comparing the safety features of a bus, with that of a motorcycle. This is because electric cars are an entirely different class of vehicles. They have a low maximum speed limit and are not meant to be driven on roads that have high speed limits.
