DIY Electric Cars
Though the technology exists, yet none of the world’s major car manufacturers have been able to come out with good electric cars for sale that last on the roads. There have been erratic and infrequent efforts resulting in half hearted products, which the users have rejected for obvious reasons. Tired of waiting for car manufacturers to come out with a decent and reasonably priced product and egged on by crazy gasoline prices, some drivers have gone ahead and tried to convert their regular gasoline guzzlers into electric cars. Sensing a great business opportunity a Hampshire based company Electric Vehicles of America has started selling DIY electric car kits. The kits come along with step by step instructions on how to convert a gasoline dependent engine, into an electricity dependent one. And what’s more these kits can be used to convert not only cars, but anything from a pick-up truck to a boat.
However certain problems do exist, the most urgent one being the limited range. The batteries aren’t powerful enough to allow people to drive across long distances. Since recharge stands are not as easily available as gas stations, people fear getting stuck in the middle of nowhere with an exhausted battery.
